Hot Water Heaters Powered By Solar Energy
Here is an interesting twist on alternative energy. You can use solar energy for hot water heaters. The set up is pretty basic and it is capable of harvesting more power, in a more efficient manner, than the photovoltaic cells that we are so used to seeing. They are in fact, up to 3 times more efficient than current solar power systems.
They are relatively simple in design as well. Solar water heaters use a collector system that holds the water while it is being heated by the sun. The two basic types of collectors are flat panels and tubes and are black in color to absorb solar rays more easily. The water is then heated by holding in the sun’s rays. It is quite efficient.
A special solar storage tank is used to exchange the cold water that comes in through your water main for the solar heated water. The idea is that it takes a whole lot less energy to get hot water when it has already been heated by the sun, as opposed to coming in cold and unheated through your existing water main.
There is a bit more to it than that but those are the basics of solar hot water heaters. We will be publishing more information about solar water heaters that will go into much greater detail in the near future.
