Alternative Energy Sources – Renewable Resources
The world is in search of ways to promote other sources of energy over fossil fuels. Fossil fuels have been used for centuries but their period of use is coming to an end. Alternative energy sources are the wave of the future.
Renewable Energy Sources
Fossil fuels were created by organic matter so when the matter is gone so is the energy source. Renewable energy sources are those that will continue to supply us with energy no matter how long and how much of them we use. They exist all around us in various forms. Some examples are:
• Solar Energy
• Wind Energy
• Water Energy
• Geothermal Energy
Each of these energy sources and others have the potential to be converted to electricity for practical needs. On a smaller scale, solar and wind energies are being used to provide power to homes on and off the utility grid. In remote areas, these two energy sources have become the sole source of energy for many.
Learn How To Harness Alternative Energy Sources For A Limitless Supply Of Energy
If these energy sources have been around forever, why are they still used on such a small scale? The simple answer is money and necessity. Until now, it didn’t seem like a necessity to find another form of energy.
No one was in a hurry. Even when it was seen that our fossil fuels were causing detrimental effects to the earth in the forms that we utilized them, we maintained our same level of use. Investigating new forms of harnessing energy takes money and none of the companies with resources and deep pockets were willing to back this quest for alternative energy sources on a grand scale. So, we limp on.
What Has Changed
The public has raised awareness of the energy crisis that we face. There have always been public interest groups that fought for alternate energy. Our automobile emissions produced greenhouse gases that, once in the air, created an impenetrable ceiling through which reflected solar radiation couldn’t pass. It was then reflected back to the earth where it slowly has raised the temperature over time causing weather pattern changes that have affected us in negative ways.
Another major change is the rising price of crude oil. We buy our oil from other countries and as they have raised their prices, we see it at the pump. For the past two years the price has been steadily rising to four and five times the highest average ever. People had to decide between getting to work and putting food on the table.
In an attempt to break the back of our dependence on oil, large corporations have funneled more money into research for alternative fuel sources. Hybrid cars have come onto the market. The government is even backing the search for viable energy sources. People who endeavor to use alternative sources of energy to power their homes can receive tax breaks on purchased solar and wind power systems.
The world is finally taking notice of a critical issue. All across the world, alternative forms of energy are in
use and working to increase their scope. Now, the issue may be if our technology can catch up to the requirements for harnessing certain harder to reach forms of energy like geothermal.
Going Forward
In the meantime, forms of alternative energy that were super expensive are becoming more affordable for the general public. You are seeing more and more solar paneled homes, businesses, and schools. Energy conservation has increased to lower our daily needs for electricity and fuel.
Slash (or even eliminate) Your Energy Bills
Utility companies are investing in wind farms and solar fields to power their grids. On a large scale it is still an expensive process but it will be until we get over the initial hurdle and the renewable energy source can begin to pay for itself.
